    Description

    Have not been able to find anything comparable, but believe this is from Thailand, being very similar to photos of dancers in elaborate costumes doing traditional dances with similar helmets and masks. This is a vintage estate piece that belonged to a gentleman who loved to travel and was a big fan of theater and opera, and Asian collectibles. The wood stand has a white mark on it, which I didn't try to remove. The helmet has a lot of tiny crevices that have gathered dust over the years , but have been lightly cleaned. Some of the little crystals have lost their sparkle, and a few are missing. I'm not sure what this is made of, the interior almost looking like paper mache'. Some of the fins on the helmet are metal that has been painted gold.  The stand is 2 3/4" tall, the helmet about 3 5/8". The hollow helmet sits close to 5" when mounted on the stand.
